Let me ask you a question. Have you showed yourself some love today? It’s so easy to neglect ourselves while putting everyone’s needs ahead of ours. Mothers especially fall victim to this because our entire life revolves around our kids and spouses and their health and well-being. Making sure our kids are dressed, fed, healthy and happy is exhausting! While running an entire household, we are also girl bosses who are juggling careers, a side business, or a full on business entity of our own.
Let’s face it, women rule!
But we need to love ourselves more. We need to nurture our mind and body and create an environment of acceptance, and less judgement, love and less hate. So today, let’s make a pact that we will criticize ourselves less and love ourselves more.
Here are 3 ways to show yourself some love:
1. Schedule time for yourself every single day
It could be 30 minutes, or 2 hours, you decide what works for you but make it a priority. And during this time, make sure what you are doing is for yourself and yourself only. Go for a walk, get a mani/pedi, sit at a Starbucks and drink a coffee in silence, get lost in a new book, or if you’re like me, lock yourself in your room and watch a movie or a show that makes you smile. Taking this time for yourself allows you to catch your breath and recharge your batteries from the chaos and busyness of your day-to-day.
2. Take care of your body (inside and out)
Eat healthy and exercise (obvi) but this is so easily said than done, am I right? Especially when you’re busy hustling all day being a girl boss and a super mom, who has time for a healthy meal and exercise? But, this is non-negotiable. When you feed your body with crap all day, you’ll feel like crap. As much as possible, eat clean and limit the amount of preservatives in your food. It’s amazing how much better you’ll feel with small changes to your diet.
As for exercise, I still struggle with finding the time to do it. It’s literally damn near impossible sometimes. But what I’ve found helpful is scheduling exercise in my day like its a part of my job. You wouldn’t miss that meeting you had to go to at work, so think of exercise as that meeting with a very important client, and that very important client is YOU!
3. Get rid of negative energy in your life
Negative energy has no place in my world. I don’t have time for it and I certainly don’t want it anywhere near me and my family.
Negative energy is like cancer. If you don’t catch it early enough, it spreads.
Don’t let that shit take over your life. If there is anyone in your life that drains your energy and you find yourself exhausted after a conversation with them. Ditch them. If there are people in your life that constantly criticize you or belittle your dreams, say sayonara, baby! Seriously though, life is way too damn short to let negative people affect your life. They’ve got their own issues to deal with so let them deal with it while you mosey on up to your place of positivity and happiness.
“When they go low, we go high“. This will forever be one of the greatest quotes of all time.
The world has an amazing way of rewarding those that have a positive energy. The more you count your blessings and be a blessing to other people, the more blessings come your way.
I’m so with you on the passion of self-care. Love that you touched a lot on getting rid of the negative energy that can creep into our lives. So important to kick them to the curb!
It’s so important. Life is way too short for that negativity.
I’ve really started getting rid of negative energy and people in my life, I already feel a million times better. I know that I need to schedule time for myself, but it always is so hard with all of the stuff that I want to accomplish.
I know what you mean. Finding time for yourself is really hard. It’s like, what do I have to give up?
I’ve definitely learned some of these lessons the hard way. It is so important to allow yourself some detox and rejuvenation 🙂
I agree. We can only be our best if we feel our best, right?
This is such good advice! Thank you for you beautiful thoughts. It is always nice to be reminded to show yourself some love every now and then!
Thank you so much for the kind words.
Great list! These are great tips for everyone especially getting rid of negativity.
