Our recent trip to San Diego has left us craving the ocean so last weekend we thought what better way to spend our Sunday than at The Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay California.
Half Moon Bay is about a 45 minute drive from where we live which is another reason why I love living in the Bay Area. If you want to get away from the city and the hustle and bustle of Silicon Valley, you can just take a short drive and feel like you’re in an entirely different place!
The drive itself is beautiful and it gets prettier and prettier the closer you get to Half Moon Bay. Along the way you will see Christmas tree farms, botanical gardens and fruit and vegetable stands. I can’t wait to come back in the Fall to check out the pumpkin patch!
The Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay is luxury at its finest. It is an ocean-front resort ideal for a romantic getaway or for celebrating a special event. It’s definitely a “special occasion” place.
As you enter, you will see the hotel restaurant Navio which has a beautiful view of the ocean.
The hotel is beautiful and spare no expense when picking out decor.
When we walked outside, we were greeted with the most breathtaking views of the ocean. It is truly a magnificent thing!
We were lucky enough to score some chairs in the outdoor patio overlooking the ocean. I say lucky because there was a lot of people out there! We sat right in front of the fire pit which kept us warm. It does get very windy and chilly up there so bring a sweater or a jacket.
We ordered our favorite sparkling wine from Domaine Carneros in Napa, sat back and enjoyed the view. See our post here from that gorgeous winery.
For the kids, they have a hot chocolate bar. For $8 you can create your own hot chocolate and pick your toppings. My son added MnM’s to his. They also had really yummy fresh baked cookies for $4 each.
There were a lot of kids out there that day and Gabriel made some new friends. They played a cute game of Simon Says and had fun rolling down the small hill. I always enjoy him interacting with other kids. He is a very social child and makes friends wherever he goes.
We walked the grounds a bit more and just couldn’t help but keep snapping pictures. It was just so beautiful everywhere we looked.
A weekend getaway at The Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay is definitely a bucket list item that Rowell and I hope to cross off soon! Our 7 year anniversary is coming up and this would be the perfect place to celebrate without having to travel too far from home.
