The only thing that helps ease the depressive state of post Holiday season is… awards season!
I love watching my fave celebs walking down the red carpet and over analyzing their dress, hair, makeup, shoes and jewelry. And of course watching the award show in itself too! Yes it’s long and drawn out and quite frankly a little boring, but it helps me escape my normal mom life for a few hours and dream of what it would be like to be Jennifer Lopez.
The Golden Globe Awards was on tonight and since it was a super rainy day in the Bay Area, we made comfort food, concocted a couple of new cocktails and vedged out on the couch pretty much all day. It was great!
Check out these recipes for the yummiest cocktails that we made yesterday.
This Vodka-Thyme Lemonade was courtesy of Martha Stewart. Our recipe below is modified to make 1 serving.
1/4 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of lemon
1/4 cup of vodka
3 sprigs of thyme
In a small saucepan, combine 1/4 cups water with the sugar and thyme; bring to a boil over high heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat; let cool to room temperature.
Pour mixture through a fine sieve into a large glass measuring cup; discard thyme. You should have 1/4 cup of syrup. Cover with plastic; chill.
In a glass, stir together lemon juice, vodka, and chilled syrup; garnish with thyme. Serve immediately.
Next, we made Orange Crush and its become my new favorite cocktail. It’s a little sweet and sour and very refreshing. Recipe courtesy of Tasty Kitchen.
1-1/2 ounce of Vodka
1-1/2 ounce of Triple Sec
1/2 whole orange, juiced
1/4 cups orange juice
1/2 cups of Sprite (we didn’t have sprite on hand so we left this out)
Place a few cubes of ice into a high ball glass or tall serving glass. Pour in a shot of vodka and a shot of Triple Sec. Squeeze the juice from half a fresh orange into the glass. Fill the remainder of the glass with 1/2 orange juice and 1/2 Sprite. Stir and enjoy!
Did you guys watch the Golden Globes last night? I gotta say, I loved Michelle Williams lace off the shoulder dress with the choker. She looked stunning! And Blake Lively always slays it on the red carpet!
Which was your favorite?
