These past few weeks I was reminded of how short and precious life truly is.
We all fall victim to the routine. The hustle and bustle of life. The never ending to do lists and the stress of the day-t0-day. But this past holiday season, I realized that what matters most are the memories that we make with the people that we love. In the end, no-one will care if your house was a mess or that you have piles of laundry that need to be washed. What brand your purse is or if you have the latest gadgets. People will remember how you made them feel and the memories that you made together.
What matters most is how you spend every minute of every day. Are you happy with how you spend your time? If not, what do you need to do to change that? The only thing I want in life is for my family and I to be happy and healthy. Everything else is a plus!
What I want to strive for this upcoming year is to have more gratitude. It’s so easy to take our lives and the people around us for granted. I sometimes even find myself complaining about the most ridiculous things sometimes. Like how cold it is, how hot it is, the computer is too slow, our car is too small, the traffic is horrible, having to cook dinner, etc… But what I need to remember is that I have a roof over my head, a warm bed to sleep in, my kids are well, our cars gets us to where we need to go and we have more than enough food on the table every day.
Gratitude is a funny thing. Most of us need to be reminded from time to time to be grateful for what we have. To appreciate the opportunities that are presented to us. We have the ability to do anything we want in life and that is truly a gift. The reality is, most of us have so much more than most people.
My goal for the upcoming year is to focus more on making memories with my family and friends and less focus on material things. I want to make more time for our parents and start checking items off our travel bucket list. Finally, I want to focus on our overall health, physically, mentally and emotionally.
At any point in time, the rug can be pulled from under us and turn our worlds upside down.
Lets live for now, lets love each other immensely and lets not sweat the small stuff.
