It was the perfect 70 something degree weather this weekend and the roses are in full bloom at the Municipal Rose Garden in San Jose so we decided to pay a visit and let our son blow off some energy.
Before heading there, we stopped by Starbucks because we wanted to try their new pink and purple drinks that are all the rage this summer.
Have you tried these yet? They’re pretty good! I describe them as cold fruity tea drinks that are refreshing for a summer day. The pink drink had bits and pieces of strawberry in it which I liked.
We arrived at the Rose Garden at golden hour. Golden hour is an hour before sunset which is perfect lighting for photography.
As you enter, there is a beautiful entryway that’s great for a photo op and right at the end is a gorgeous fountain.
We even saw a little duck swimming around in the fountain. That amused my son for a while as he likes to terrorize small animals by chasing them. Poor little duck.
The rose garden itself is huge! There were so many different colors of roses and all were in full bloom.
We saw several families having picnics around the garden since there is a lot of wide open space to lay out a blanket and relax. You’ll also find several benches throughout the whole park which make for a good rest area but also another nice place to take photos.
On the other side of the rose garden was a huge empty field where you can let the kids run around, toss a ball, play games, anything you want. There is so much space! You’ll even find picnic tables with restrooms along the side of the open field.
We stayed there for a couple of hours snapping pics, walking around, smelling the roses, and letting our son burn off some energy before bedtime.
It was a relaxing way to end a Saturday. We’ll definitely be back again, next time with a picnic.
