Followed a different path at the Stanford University Campus and was pleasantly surprised with what we found.
Sometimes when things don’t go as planned, we discover something new that we would not have otherwise discovered. Last Saturday while making our way to our favorite coffee shop in Downtown Palo Alto, we were diverted due to a large event that was going on that evening. Traffic was bad getting in to the downtown area so instead we took a different road that led us to the Stanford University Campus. Since we had some time to kill before dinner and it was such a gorgeous evening out, we decided to go for a stroll around the campus. We have been to this campus many times in the past but this time instead of strolling our usual path and seeing the same buildings, we went off the beaten path. We noticed there was a trail with beautiful trees around it that provided a lot of shade on that sunny day.
As we followed the path, it led us to an area with park benches, big trees, lots of grassy area for laying out and having a picnic and a section with artsy looking rocks that my son enjoyed jumping on and off from.
It was so quiet and peaceful in that area of the campus. From time to time, other couples with their kids would walk by and take in the calmness of the area as well. The trees and the grass were so green and the area is so well kept by the groundskeepers. The Stanford Campus is so beautiful and I never get tired of going there.
As we headed back towards our car, we noticed several groups enjoying a picnic on the grassy oval in front of the main quad lawn. It inspired me to want to come back and have a picnic here of our own. There was also a large group of people playing ultimate frisbee and kids running around playing a game of tag. It was so nice to see kids (and adults) put their electronic devices down and play the good old fashion way.
The experience made me realize that sometimes you don’t have to have a plan and when things don’t go as planned, its okay. Just go with the flow and follow the path because you never know where it may lead you to.
